SHITIJ Orientation Program by ICAR-IISR

The SHITIJ Orientation Program, organized by ICAR–Indian Institute of Spices Research (ICAR-IISR), was conducted to orient participants towards research, innovation, and emerging opportunities in agricultural and allied sciences. The program provided valuable insights into ICAR-IISR’s research activities, institutional facilities, and collaborative prospects, while encouraging students to engage in interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship aligned with national research and development goals.

Ideathon

On 6^th October 2025 the IEDC organized a flagship Ideathon in association with ED club and IIC mdit specifically designed for the incoming batch. The event served as a platform for students to identify real-world problems and propose innovative, scalable solutions. By targeting first-year students, the IEDC aims to cultivate a culture of "thinking outside the box" that will persist throughout their four years of study. Students presented their ideas infront of the jury and they appreciated their ideas and enthusiasm in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Vega Processor Workshop

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center (IEDC), ED Club and IIC MDIT in collaboration with CDAC Thiruvananthapuram, and in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), organized a two-day VEGA Processor Workshop on 21st and 22nd August 2025. The workshop offered participants hands-on exposure to VEGA processor architecture, programming fundamentals, and practical implementation. Expert-led sessions enabled students to gain insights into open-source processor design and embedded system applications, fostering technical skills and innovation-driven learning.

Design Thinking Workshop 

 As part of the Induction Program, a Design Thinking Workshop was conducted for first-year students to nurture creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills. The workshop introduced students to the design thinking process—empathizing, defining problems and ideating—through interactive sessions and hands-on activities. This initiative helped students develop a user-centric mindset, teamwork skills, and the ability to approach real-world challenges with innovative solutions.

Startup Track - Innovation Corridor

 The program aimed to assist students and faculties to curate their startup idea. On behalf of  Kerala Startup Mission Mr. Rony K Roy , Sr. Technology Fellow, KSUM was the resource person. the event was conducted on 8th november 2024.20 students attented the event.

Design Thinking Workshop

A design thinking workshop is a creative problem-solving session that is based on the principles of design thinking. These workshops are activity-based and they involve real-time collaboration. Design thiniking workshop had conducted for 1^st year students for developing their problem solving skill. The workshop’s resource person was Mr. Arun Krishnan, YIP district coordinator Wayanad, Founder of techone technologies Pvt. Ltd. And T one decor on 8^th April 2024.

Orientation Class on YIP 6.0

An orientation session on YIP 6.0 is conducted on 16^th February 2024 fro first year students. The session was handled by Mr. Vishnu C U( KDISC YIP Intern, IEDC M-DIT CEO, Student of CE department). Students got an overall idea about YIP, its themes and its application process. A total of 75 studnets attended the session. 8 ideas submitted by M-DIT students for the same.

IEDC Summit 2023

Kerala Startup Mission is organized the eight edition of the flagship event- IEDC Summit 2023 at College of Engineering Trivandrum. IEDC Summit is an amalgamation of events from a plethora of domains, including technology, entrepreneurship, skill development, and so much more. It facilitates as a platform for connecting student innovators, industry leaders, and various startups in addition to providing an opportunity for them to engage and network, and form connections that lasts for a lifetime.IEDC team of M-DIT attended and participated in various event.

Internet of Things (one day workshop)

       IEDC MDIT conducted a workshop on Internet of Things on 9^th Aug 2022. The session is handled by Mr. Musafar Sakeen, Technology Co-lead of IEDC MDIT. 30 students from various departments attended the workshop. They also got to do the handles on projects using IoT.

Bussiness Model Canvas (workshop- entrepreneurship)

IEDC MDIT conducted a workshop on Business model canvas. 45 students from various department attended the same. The workshop is conducted by Ms. Aparna C, Assistant professor ECE, MDIT. During the workshop students selected different business sectors and able to do business model canvas for the sector. The program was held on 22^nd November 2022

Meet the Entrepreneur.

An online event Meet the Entrepreneur is conducted on 21^st august 2022. The event is conducted via google meet from 7.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Guest of the event was Mr. Arun Krishnan , Founder and CEO techone technologies Pvt.Ltd. He gave the students on a brief of his journey and encourage student to have innovative ideas and convert it to startup

One Design thinking workshop.

A one day design thinking workshop is conducted on 27^th october 2022 for the first year students by the IEDC MDIT team. During the workshop students were divided in to groups, selected different problems to solve and designed prototype for the same. 80 students participated in the event.

One day workshop on Fashion Designing

One day workshop on fashion desiging is held on 8^th march 2023 as part of international women’s day in association with women’s club MDIT. Resource Person: Ms.Sindhu P, Institute  Of  Fortune   Fashion   Designing. 30 students atteneded the workshop.

Talk on Idea Validation.

      As part of women’s day IEDC MDIT organized a talk on Idea Validation on 9^th march 2023. With our resourse person Ms. Swetha R, Founder and CEO of She birth, our studnets got a hands on experience on how to validate their idea. A total of 35 students atteneded the workshop.
