The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, has established the Innovation Cell (MIC) with a vision to systematically nurture the culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up ecosystem in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country. In alignment with this vision, M.Dasan Institute of Technology (MDIT) proudly established its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) in the academic year 2023-24.

The IIC-MDIT serves as a dedicated body to encourage, mentor, and support students and faculty members to engage actively in innovation and entrepreneurial activities. It acts as a catalyst in transforming novel ideas into impactful innovations by fostering a spirit of creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving among the campus community.

To ensure maximum outreach and effectiveness, IIC MDIT actively collaborates with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC MDIT), the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club, and various academic departments. Together, these bodies organize a wide range of programs and initiatives such as:

• Innovation and entrepreneurship awareness sessions

• Ideation and design thinking workshops

• Start-up and business model development events

• Technical skill development training

• Hackathons, project exhibitions, and competitions

• Interaction with successful innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry experts

These activities are aligned with the calendar prescribed by MIC and aim to build an innovation-driven mindset among students while also enhancing their entrepreneurial competencies.

The IIC at MDIT continues to grow as a vibrant platform that promotes interdisciplinary learning, hands-on experiences, and real-world problem-solving, in line with the national goals of creating a self-reliant and innovation-driven India.

Programs on Techfest in association with various departments

During the college techfest 2023 IIC in association with IEDC MDIT and ED Club MDIT organized events like ideathone, problem solving sesssion and other technical related workshops.

FDP on Innovation Entrepreneurship and IPR

IEDC MDIT in association with IIC, ED Club, ISTE and IEEE of MDIT organized a 5 day FDP on Innovation Entrepreneurship and IPR during the period 23/1/2024 to 30/1/2024 for M-DIT faculties and lab staff. The FDP was inaugurated by our chairman Mr. M Mehaboob and was well packed with excellent resource persons.

Design Thinking Workshop

A design thinking workshop is a creative problem-solving session that is based on the principles of design thinking. These workshops are activity-based and they involve real-time collaboration. Design thiniking workshop had conducted for 1^st year students for developing their problem solving skill. The workshop’s resource person was Mr. Arun Krishnan, YIP district coordinator Wayanad, Founder of techone technologies Pvt. Ltd. And T one decor on 8^th April 2024.
